Soweto Gospel Choir

Having toured with the MyMix system with High School Musical through Hong Kong, China and Taiwan it became clear which system to take along on the upcoming Australian, UK, Europe and US, Grammy Award winning, Soweto Gospel Choir tour.

Soweto Gospel Choir

The Grammy Award winning Soweto Gospel Choir is using myMix on world tour 2011/12.

Keeping the on stage monitor level to an absolute minimum on this show is paramount! I needed a personal monitoring system, which would be reliable, easy to use and lightweight.  The band members in the choir quickly learned to find their way around the MyMixes through its intuitive user interface and were soon creating profiles for specific songs. This allowed me more time to concentrate on the FOH mix, ultimately yielding a better audience experience. Having the input expander along for the ride meant less signal cabling on stage and more flexibility when interfacing at various venues substantially reducing set up time. Including the 5 on stage MyMixes I had a massive 26 channels of analogue audio at my disposal to put into the MyMix network. This system configuration also meant less mixes from the main mixing console as the musicians had the option of directly patching their instruments from a DI link into their personal myMix.

Where shipping equipment costs become an issue, this system in its entirety only added 20kg to our excess luggage. This is a definite consideration when you’re performing one nighters’ and flying all over the world. Well done to MyMix for creating a real world personal monitoring solution on a live stage and in the studio for musicians and sound engineers alike!
